Values
of Education
Every
day we learn values of Education in our life. Values make our way of life and
give us direction to live our life in a successful manner. The society,
institutions teach us values. The most useful and powerful way to learn values is
considered the educational institutional platforms. Where children in their
early ages are sent to get education for life, which comprises of social and
educational learning of academics, traditional and cultural values. What are
values of education actually?
Values
of Education actually are to learn to live according to the cultural and traditional
norms of the society. We adopt our own culture and traditions and grow
accordingly and pass on to our generations the values of our forefathers and
society. In Schools and Universities we go to learn human values like; Respect, love, Responsibility, loyalty,
punctuality and many others.
Values
of Educations make the society more civilized. Values of education also promote
and enhance our old traditional values. A value of education also creates
diversity through institutional learning. Values of education also provide an
opportunity to people of diverse cultures to come together and learn each other’s
culture and traditions.
In
today’s world people are more materialistic, more professional, more selfish
and do not bother about values of culture and traditions. People are on
facebook, cell phones all the time for business, and information, and finding
entertainment. It does not make difference among the parents and children.
When
we talk about values of education, and we see the changing trends of our
education system, and daily changing social behaviors of the children and
elders, for a moment we find our-selves no- where that our children really
growing in a society where they are learning values. The social media is
playing vital role in promotion of cultural and traditional values. The diversity
in cultural and traditional values making the children learn all cultures and
we are forgetting our own traditions. I see decade back, when I can remember
that children were taught about cleanliness in the schools, the students were
obeying the teachers to clean their class (picking the wrappers) after the
break during school time. But now days I have experienced that teachers can-not
order the students to pick up the wrappers. Students simply say that, I am not
servant, although may be that child would belong to very poor class of society.
The diversity
in education has changed the class room teaching and learning. In this Era of social
media, the children although they belong to poor family background or rich
family background have earned self-respect.
In this
Era of diversity in education system, children have also earned to learn
abusive culture. Children have been reached early in their age of maturity. The
teen age have been reduced to its maximum age of 9 years.
The schools are failing to teach children the
values of respect, love and responsibility.
It was
time when students only listen to teachers for values, that my teacher has
taught me to respect parents. But now days children follow face book posts that
values are only that what my friends are saying……….
If we
look back decade or two.. in government schools values of education period was
taken on every Friday, which was called “ Bazam-e- Adab” and values of love,
respect and discipline were taught. But now days it is surprise to share that
in this “Bazam-e-Adab period students on the assembly point are told about “Dengue”
mosquito or other issues. The awareness
on health issues has overcome values of education.
